The poem, then, has a double meaning built in. It speaks of human love, often drawing from Solomon’s personal experience. But it also points to another love, that between Christ and his people. Whether married or not, we will appreciate the beauty of Solomon’s most excellent Song. And whether married or not, we can enjoy the love of the heavenly Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.
